I'm so proud of this picture. • First, the door. Probably been there for almost 100 years. Can you imagine how many people have walked thru it? Second, the etched logo. This is our very first logo designed over 20 years ago. 🖤 Third, the awning. Last year I took the plunge and did a refresh on our curb appeal. New logo, new signage, new awning, new color scheme. I love how it came together. Fourth, the new paint colors. The start of our cafe refresh began with new paint in January. Taking my cues from the new logo and outdoor success I feel it gave us an updated look but also retained the homey feel I didnt want to lose. Fifth, the floors!! I still am over the moon for this medallion and I can't wait to reopen and share this fresh space with everyone! • You've all been patient and I've felt your excitement about the changes we've made. Not everyone knows the significance of this medallion, so I thought I'd share a short story 😉 • The afternoon of July 3, 2007 there was a very strong thunderstorm that swept thru Kewaskum. Around 12 noon our building was struck by lightning. Lucky for us, people saw the smoke billowing from the eaves and came to sound the alarm and have us evacuate. Many local fire departments came and the fire was extinguished. My husband and I had owned the building and the business for less than one year. We had a six month old baby and had recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary. We were devastated, but we picked up the pieces, made a deal with the insurance company and general contracted the work ourselves. The laminate flooring was replaced with this hardwood ash. The gentleman that laid the flooring talked us into doing a medallion and this is the finished design that we collaborated on. The lightning bolts remind me that great things can come from something awful. We learned our strengths as a couple and as individuals and it was just the beginning of all the things we have accomplished together since.
